About AFMF

Since the Global Financial Crisis, the financial markets are undergoing fundamental changes and banks and financial institutions are facing increased challenges through digital disruption, new technologies and new capital and regulatory standards amidst revenue and cost pressures and more recently talent retention issues.

The Asia Financial Markets Forum (AFMF) is organised by Financial Markets Association of Singapore (FMAS) and co-hosted by Bloomberg, is especially relevant to the treasury and markets professionals in banks, financial institutions and hedge funds who face a major challenge in a how to stay ahead of the game. COVID-19 has further accelerated the transition towards a more digital customer base and workforce but has created a world where growth prospects are highly challenged.

Whilst the market volatility seen in 2021 and now 2022 has generally cause much realignment and transformation of the financial markets business, there is an open question about how to align the cost base with revenue drivers for the next phase.

C-suite leaders within our industry, more than ever before, need to carefully navigate their way through this tricky period by making important, strategic investment decisions today about their business, their people and their future. We are keenly aware of these challenges the industry is facing and it is our intention through the Asia Financial Markets Forum that the themes and speakers will bring new insights and thought leadership that’s required to help our leaders of today and nurture the leaders of tomorrow. The topics will showcase the current opportunities and challenges within our business and will deliver content that is thoughtful and unique. This forum event would provide an opportunity for regional Financial Markets practitioners to come together and will bring them closer to the market leaders and decision-makers in within the industry. This is especially relevant to the treasury and markets function in banks, financial institutions and corporates who face a major challenge in how to stay ahead of the game.

For this year, AFMF 2022 will be a physical face-to-face event this year which will feature a Keynote message by Mr. Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Senior Minister & Coordinating Minister for Social Policies, Chairman of Monetary Authority of Singapore, and a Keynote speech by Mr Alvin Tan, Minister of State, Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth & Ministry of Trade and Industry, Board Member of the Monetary Authority of Singapore. The forum will also include many other thought leaders from our industry sharing their valuable insights in panel discussions.

The content will focus on the three important themes that we have identified, which are:

  • Geopolitics & Marco Trends which are key drivers of financial markets
  • Disruptors of the Financial Markets Business of the Future – Digital Token and Assets, DeFi
  • What’s next in Sustainability for Banks and Financial Services
  • Sustainable growth in Asian capital markets
  • Leadership & Talent Retention issues facing our markets.

Participants attending this forum will be key professionals in the treasury and capital markets ecosystem including banks, regulators, buy side professionals, C-suite leaders and important intermediaries such as vendors and brokers and platform providers.
